Theaters across India are abuzz as they gear up for Salman Khan's Diwali release, "Tiger 3," in which he returns as the punch-kick-boom secret agent.
With the release just around the corner, fans of the franchise are curious about the fate of the late actor Girish Karnad's character in the new movie.
What
Indian cinema has been enjoying a good run at the box office during the 2022-2023 window, with action movies playing a significant role.
With the YRF Spy Universe's Diwali release, "Tiger 3," starring Salman Khan, the anticipation is high.
Salman Khan's Tiger franchise is one of the most popular and successful action movie franchises in Bollywood, and a Diwali release is expected to receive significant hype.
"Tiger 3" includes Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emran Hashmi in titular roles, but loyal fans of the franchise are curious about the future of the late actor Girish Karnad's character, 'Shenoy.'
Girish Karnad as Shenoy
Veteran actor and film director Girish Karnad played the character of RAW chief Shenoy in the first two installments of the Tiger franchise from Yash Raj Films.
Girish Karnad, who passed away in 2019 due to age-related complications, leaves us with cherished memories and unfortunately rules out the possibility of any future appearances in the YRF Spy Universe.
Before Ashutosh Rana took on the role of the chief of all spies, Colonel Sunil Luthra in both WAR and Pathaan, it was Girish Karnad's Shenoy who was set up as the more likely boss.
Karnad was last seen in the second Tiger movie, "Tiger Zinda Hai," where he played his character amidst ongoing illness (and tubes in his nose).
Shenoy’s replacement
Upon leaving the shoes of Shenoy empty, many loyal fans to the franchise had been wondering about the fate of Shenoy in "Tiger 3."
According to a TOI report, renowned actress Revathy, who appeared alongside Salman Khan three decades ago, is set to step into the character of Shenoy in "Tiger 3."
The role of Shenoy is being gender-swapped with Revathi taking over the role of the RAW Chief.
Revathy and Salman Khan last acted alongside each other in the 1991 Suresh Krissna movie, "Love."
