After years of wait, Farhan Akhtar has answered the request of his Don-fans with news about its upcoming instalment, which hasn't really turned out the way he would've expected.
It has been a day on an emotional rollercoaster for Bollywood actor-director Farhan Akhtar. On August 8, Farhan Akhtar delighted his social media fans with a short but exciting teaser of his upcoming directorial, sparking both enthusiasm and commotion in the online world.Â
The impactful teaser was for none other than Don 3, a long-awaited sequel to a beloved franchise that has captivated viewers for years. The clip doesn't reveal much about the upcoming movie, except for its tagline: 'A New Era Begins'.Â
But, the excitement didnât last long and it took a chaotic turn when Farhan Akhtar, just a few hours after the teaser, publicly announced recasting Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role.
All hell broke loose as Shah Rukh Khan's fans were left fuming over Farhan's revelation of a forthcoming "new era", suggesting the exclusion of SRK from the film, as previously speculated. Farhan subsequently validated Shah Rukh Khan's departure through his tweet along with praise for Amitabh Bachchan, who held the role prior to SRK in the 1978 original Don.Â
Since Farhaanâs announcement, the Internet has been going berserk, with some people even saying that they wonât accept any other actor as Don except Shah Rukh Khan. X (formerly Twitter) has been filled with users voicing the same opinion.
Some even put forth the point that if the next instalment of the franchise is in all reality, a reboot, then it shouldnât carry the number â3â.Â
Speculation about a new actor taking over the role of Don have been in the air for quite some time. Some reports even state that a popular name like Ranveer Singh is poised to be the next Don.Â
However, an official statement on that front is awaited.
