The Queen of Pop, Madonna, provided a health update following her recent hospitalization for a severe bacterial infection. It has been a challenging time for her, but she expressed gratitude to her fans for their love, support, and prayers.
In a social media post shared by Madonna on Monday, July 10, via Instagram and Twitter, she sincerely thanked her fans, stating, "Thank you for your positive energy, prayers, and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love." The iconic singer of "Like a Prayer" continued, "I'm on the road to recovery and deeply appreciative of all the blessings in my life." Alongside her message, Madonna also shared a selfie.
The 64-year-old American singer-songwriter was hospitalized in late June due to a bacterial infection, which required her to spend several days in the Intensive Care Unit. Madonna was discharged from the hospital on June 29 and advised by doctors to take sufficient rest.
Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, announced her health status on an Instagram post on June 29, informing fans that her "Celebration Tour" has been postponed until further notice. He adds, "We will share more details with you soon, including a new start date for the tour and rescheduled shows."
While Madonna is currently fully focused on her health, her team is diligently working to reschedule the North American leg of her tour.
An Entertainment Tonight source reveals, "Madonna is steadily improving, and her aim is to resume touring as soon as she feels comfortable and ready. Madonna and her team are hopeful that they can restart around October." Additionally, on Sunday, July 9, Madonna was spotted in the Upper East Side neighborhood of New York City, donning sunglasses, a hat, and Nike sneakers.
Prior to her hospitalization and the infection, Madonna had been devoting herself to intense rehearsals for her upcoming tour, according to sources from various news outlets.
A source shared with PEOPLE magazine, "She ignored some illness symptoms for quite a while, hoping they would dissipate. However, she didn't want to take time away from rehearsals." The source adds, "She had been feeling worn out and not at 100% for some time due to the anticipation of her tour."
Madonna was genuinely excited about her highly anticipated "Celebration Tour," which was set to take place in cities across North America and Europe. This tour aimed to commemorate her four-decade-long music career.
