English singer Liam James Payne, 29, opened up about his sobriety journey in an interview by iFL TV ringside at a boxing match at London's Wembley Arena on Saturday (May 13). The member of the former band One Direction said: "I'm sober now over 100 days. I feel amazing."

In his interview, he revealed some big developments in his life including making an album. And when the interviewer complemented him that he looks well, Payne smiled and opened up about his sobriety journey. 

He's not the only celebrity who has spoken about his sobriety journey. Recently, many celebrities have spoken candidly about their path to sobriety

Tom Holland

  • Spider-Man star Tom Holland gave a sneak-peek into his sobriety journey in an interview with Entertainment Weekly on May 9.
  • In the interview he revealed that he has been one year and four months sober now.

Demi Lovato

  • American singer-songwriter, Demi Lovato, 30, had a near-fatal drug overdose in 2018.
  • Since then, she reevaluated her relationship with alcohol and drugs, and has spoken openly about her sobriety lifestyle, including when they told Jimmy Fallon, “The easiest way to do something the most authentic is to do it clean and sober” in 2022.
  • Lovato's eighth album 'Holy Fvck'  on August 19, 2022 and songs like “29” and “Skin of My Teeth” gave a raw insight into Lovato's journey on focusing on themself again and healing from their trauma.

Ben Affleck

  • Ben Affleck has had a tough relationship with sobriety. 
  • After his success as an actor in the movie Good Will Hunting, he was motivated to sober up, and took his first step towards sobriety in 1997.
  • Since then he's struggled with sobriety and had relapsed. Affleck has been in the rehab three times.
  • In an interview with The New York Times in July 2021, he said: "I have certainly made mistakes. I have certainly done things that I regret. But you’ve got to pick yourself up, learn from it, learn some more, try to move forward.”

Daniel Radcliffe

  • Daniel Radcliffe had opened up about the toll alcohol took on his life. 
  • He shared with BBC Radio 4 in 2020, “A lot of drinking that happened toward the end of Potter and for a little bit after it finished, it was panic, a little bit not knowing what to do next—not being comfortable enough in who I was to remain sober.”
  • The Harry Potter star has been sober since 2010.

  • Bollywood actress and daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt has spoken candidly about her fight and triumph over alcoholism.
  • Pooja Bhatt began her sobriety journey on December 24, 2016. She's been sober for 7 years now.

Sanjay Dutt

  • The Bollywood actor was known for his heavy drug addiction. 
  • At an EEMA's (Event and Entertainment Management Association) annual convention he said that substance abuse is something that once you get into it, it's very difficult to leave. "It is the worst thing in the world. My journey with substance abuse has been about 12 years. There are no drugs in the world that I have not done," he said.
  • In 2020, Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with Lung cancer, and flew to the US to seek treatment. Later in 2020, he announced that he was cancer-free.
