Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, who acquired the memoir after a bidding war, released a press statement about The Woman in Me, calling the book "a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope".

Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books Senior Vice-President and Publisher, told People magazine, "Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery. I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last."

Britney and the conservatorship

This memoir comes at a time when the 41-year-old American singer-songwriter ended her conservatorship in November 2021 after her father, Jamie Spears, controlled her life and finances, including her $60 million estate, for a period of 13 years.

Jamie Spears was appointed her conservator in 2008.

The conservatorship ended in November 2021 after a sensational and lengthy legal battle.

Britney Spears was inclined towards writing a memoir and sharing her story with the world. She landed a publishing deal with Simon & Schuster in February 2022, and it was worth as much as $15 million.

This memoir will talk about Britney's childhood, her relationship with Justin Timberlake, her difficult relationship with her family during her conservatorship, and her relationship with her husband Sam Asghari, according to a source quoted by Page Six.
