Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
These two names taken together will have many gasp. The once-celebrated couple has moved on since their much talked about break up to new partners and new ventures, but succesfully maintained a dignified relationship of camaraderie with each other. Their last outing together, Ayan Mukherjee's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was a pleasure to watch, for their steaming chemistry is still intact, and was an easy entry to the Rs 100-crore club.
Imtiaz Ali.
He is a director who has brought out the best in all the actors he has worked with. As with Abhay Deol in Socha Na Tha or Alia Bhatt in Highway, Imtiaz has proved time and again his deep understanding of the human nature as well as his insights about the intricacies and dynamics of relationships.
As for me, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan's best performance was in Jab We Met, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone's best was Love Aaj Kal, Ranbir Kapoor excelled in Rockstar, and undoubtedly Alia's best till date, is Highway, and all these movies were helmed by Imtiaz. The storyteller in Imtiaz had always two things unchanged in all his movies - journey and love. The journey could be physicial or the inner journey of the characters, and love is what Imtiaz understands the most, or is continuously trying to explore deeper.
When a director like Imtiaz gets the luxury of having two mature, deep and intense actors as Ranbir and Deepika in his movie, the expectation is sky high. The locales of the movie seen from the now available images, and two clever promotional videos makes Tamasha trend on social media platforms already. Achieving such a hype without even releasing a teaser, trailer or song, is quite something, considering Imtiaz always has had his set of audience and Ranbir is not yet in the league of the three Khans.
With another month to wait, Tamasha has already set its bar very high. Looking forward to a cinematic experience with an intense story and performances that will haunt me for at least three months like Rockstar did.
