Ten break down boys, including Modi, who made us proud

As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi teared up while speaking to Mark Zuckerberg in California, he isn’t the only man with moist eyes of late. Here are some men who have broken down and even bawled on screen, breaking stereotypes and just… letting us know they are human.

1. Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke down while talking about his mother at a townhall session with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the company's headquarters in California. "When I was young, to raise us she worked in neighbours' homes cleaning dishes, filling water..." he said. "There are lakhs of mothers who have given up their whole lives for the dreams of their children... A mother never cares what you become. She cares who you become."

He also fought back tears previously when he was Prime Minister-designate in an emotional first address to his party colleagues in Parliament.

 2. Jon Stewart

In a touching, personal and candid episode, the first after 9/11, the sorely missed Daily Show comedian broke down on air.

3. Aamir Khan

The easily offended actor is also very emotional, it would seem. He was often seen tearing up on Satyamev Jayate as he listened closely to stories of pain and strife. More recently, he was reportedly moved to tears by the Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

4. Barack Obama

The US president is known to cry often on his campaign trails or when he is expressing gratitude to his staff. With great power comes great emotion, it would seem.

5. Pharell

Ironically, the impact his song "Happy" had on the lives of several people moved Pharell to tears on Oprah. He quipped instantly, "Why am I crying on Oprah?"

6. Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh, overwhelmed when he won his first award for Band Baaja Baraat, sobbed through his acceptance speech at the Star Screen Awards in 2011.

7. Ashutosh

Dramatic AAP leader Ashutosh broke down on an equally dramatic news channel over the suicide of farmer Gajendra Singh. While speaking to Singh's daughter, Ashutosh wept as he said, "I could not prevent the death of your father."

8. Sachin Tendulkar

During the final moments of his legendary career, in November 2013 Sachin Tendulkar wiped his tears while walking through the guard of honour formed for him by his teammates after his final game.

9. David Beckham

The former England and Paris St Germain Captain retired after a 22-year long career in football. He couldn't help but burst into tears as he broke several hearts across the world, when the 38-year former Manchester United star walked off the pitch after having played the final game of his career as captain of PSG.

10. Sooraj Pancholi

After the trailer launch of his recentl released film Hero, when actor Sooraj Pancholi came up on stage, he had tears in his eyes and he hugged Salman Khan. “This is our heroine (pointing to Sooraj) and this is our hero (pointing to Athiya)," said Khan, who would do well to read a few more listicles like this one.
