'Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai' is still Mowgli's favourite song

Long before Harry Potter, the perky ditty "Jungle Jungle Baat Chali hai" transported Indian millennials into a forbidden forest with Mowgli and his friends Bageera, Baloo and Kaa in tow.

If you were a '90s kid, you knew not to mess with Sher Khan (the tiger) and trust bears (like Baloo). Now a reprise of the poem, composed by lyricist-music director duo Gulzar and Vishal Bharadwaj, will take you back into the wild - with a familiar thrill of adventure and mishaps that can never grow old.

In its new avatar, much like the original theme for The Jungle Book, "Jungle Jungle Pata chala hai" opens to the menacing sounds of the animal kingdom and an equally bewildered and frightened Mowgli learning the ways of the wild.

Mowgli is back into the wild.

Only this time, Mowgli is fighting a high-definition Sher Khan with drums playing in the background. Old fans needn't worry. Like Baloo, with his new Punjabi accent, says, "Thand rakh, puttar, ghabrane ki lodh nai hai."

Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai is still a bewitching leap back in time.
