HC Dutta
Lt Gen HC Dutta, PVSM, took over the command of the fifth battalion of the Eighth Gorkha Rifles from Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He later led the battalion into the 1965 war with Pakistan. He retired in 1983 as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command.
